Power Plant Earthen Dam Repair
PMI was awarded an earthen dam repair project in 2013. The project consisted of removal and replacement of unsatisfactory soils that caused a large landslide on the 2200' long levee. The area was repaired using geotextile fabric and multiple types of stone backfill, as well as an underdrain system. The area was capped with soil in order to establish vegetation. Excavation and backfill were required to happen simultaneously due to a large pond on the upstream side of the repair; therefore, efficiency, coordination and planning were the most crucial parts of the project. This project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
